The mortgage market has changed dramatically from pre-recession days. Companies that once dominated the mortgage business have been gone for years, and relatively new companies have grown to take their place. With that in mind, Scotsman Guide wanted to gauge the success of mortgage lenders still out there and those new to the business.
Everyone knows about the banks at the very top of the origination market - institutions like Wells Fargo and Bank of America are household names, after all. But what about the rest? What companies are thriving in the wholesale market? What lender is tops in retail?
We set out to answer these questions by creating the first-ever Scotsman Guide Top Mortgage Lenders rankings. We've been ranking originators for several years, and now it's time to turn the tables.
In the June issue of Scotsman Guide, you'll find rankings of the top mortgage companies by:
- Overall volume
- Wholesale volume
- Retail volume
- Volume gain from 2011 to 2012
- Hard-money volume
These rankings reflect only loans made on 1-4 residential properties within the United States in 2012. For the purposes of our rankings, correspondent lending, warehouse facilities and third-party origination volume were included with wholesale production.
